DIY Toddler Wardrobe
Our toddler wardrobe is probably the best DIY we have ever done. We built it when our daughter was close to 2 years old and we have used it since.
Here’s how we built it
The frames are two of this Ikea TROFAST frames. At the time we bought it in the natural wood color because the white was sold out (it was 2020), and we painted it with white spray paint. However, I think I like this option better because the white version has the shelf grooves that stick out instead of being built in.
We got the white shelves (2 packs of 2) from the same collection from Ikea, but we use 2 of them (one at the top of each frame) just to hide the fasteners to the wall.
The closet rod is a simple extension rod and has worked really well for us. Maybe the texture of the paint has helped keeping it in place.
It took me a bit to find the perfect baskets, but they are these ones in size Small. I like them because the most because they are lined.
I made some picture labels which then I taped with velcro dots to the baskets.
How we use it day to day:
At the beginning I had tops hanging and bottoms in a lower basket, like in the picture below, but using it I learned that our daughter didn’t have much interest in choosing both items and mostly cared about the top. So from then on I’ve hung the entire outfit on one hanger and she chooses that.
We use these hangers because they are don’t have pointy edges, so I don’t have to worry about safety.
